About PolyU RCEV

PolyU Research Centre for Electric Vehicles (RCEV) is a new university-level research centre which was launched on 26 Feb 2024. The Director of the Research Centre is Prof. C. C. Chan, a Distinguished Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), who is the first Academician of CAE (中国工程院院士) in Hong Kong, and also a renowned expert in the field and widely recognised as the “Father of Asian electric vehicles”. The Co-Director is Prof. K. T. Chau, a Chair Professor in EEE. RCEV aims to address the technical challenges of modern electric vehicles (EVs) and provide significant technological solutions. By integrating EV technology with energy, information, humanity, and policy, the Centre follows the philosophy of integrating the human, cyber, and physical worlds. One of the Centre’s primary goals is to transfer the developed technologies to industries, particularly within the Greater Bay Area, enabling them to capitalise on the abundant opportunities presented by EVs globally. This technology transfer will also play a vital role in supporting the realisation of carbon neutrality in various countries and cities, including Hong Kong.

About Dr Mingyuan JIANG

Mingyuan JIANG receives the B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering and automation from Shanghai Maritime University, Shanghai, China, in 2020. Subsequently, he obtained the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, China, in 2021 and 2024, respectively (PhD Supervisor: Prof. Shuangxia Niu, Associate Director of RCEV). He is currently a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His primary research focuses on the design, optimization, and control of electric machines, electric vehicles, and power generation.
